Discipline is vital for Christian growth, really for growth in all areas of life. If you schedule time for something, and show up, you will advance much faster than if you only do things when inspiration strikes. Therefore, as a minimum level for 2014, I’m going to use Stephen Witmer’s Two-Year Bible Reading Plan. At the link, Witmer explains his reasons for arranging things as he does. The idea is to read through the Bible slowly so that you have time to digest and meditate on what is read, instead of racing to check daily reading off the list. The readings are broken up sensibly instead of reading a certain number of chapters or verses a day. The Psalms and Proverbs are emphasized, being read four times through in the two years. I hope some of you find this plan useful.
